Color splash is a project to promote ‘Pipili Applique’ handicraft of Odisha. Every decade needs its own manual of Handicraft and one such craft is the colorful craft of Pipili. Since the ages of Maharajas the craft is being followed without losing the serenity and beauty.
A few kilometers away from Bhubaneswar, the capital city of Odisha, exists a small but a land of talents named Pipili. Bright colors of the beautiful Applique work defines the village and the people residing in it. It emerged when the Kings established the village Pipili, to accommodate the craftsmen who made appliqué umbrella and canopies for the holy Jagannath Yatra or popularly known as ‘the car festival’.
